Cannabic Arepas

Unlock the delightful flavors of Latin cuisine with these cannabis-infused arepas, which are cornmeal cakes that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, arepas can be filled or topped with a variety of ingredients, such as cheese, avocado, or meats, making them a versatile and satisfying meal. By incorporating cannabis-infused oil into the dough, you can enjoy a delicious and uplifting experience that pairs perfectly with your favorite fillings!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pre-cooked cornmeal (masarepa)
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cannabis-infused oil (plus additional for cooking)
  • Optional fillings: Cheese, shredded chicken, black beans, avocado, or any ingredients of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pre-cooked cornmeal and salt. Gradually add the warm water and cannabis-infused oil to the dry ingredients, mixing with your hands or a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms. Let the dough rest for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Shape the Arepas: Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Flatten each ball into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Cook the Arepas: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of cannabis-infused oil. Place the arepas in the skillet, cooking for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until they're golden brown and crispy. You can also bake them at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes after pan-frying for added crispness.
  4. Serve: Once cooked, slice the arepas open and fill them with your desired fillings, such as cheese, avocado, shredded chicken, or beans. Enjoy warm and indulge responsibly!

These cannabis-infused arepas are not only delicious but also offer flexibility in fillings, allowing you to customize them based on your preferences!
