Ingredients:

For the Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Nut Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the chopped nuts, cinnamon, and cloves. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Phyllo Dough: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  3. Layer the Phyllo Dough: Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking pan, brush with melted butter. Repeat this process 6-8 times, layering the phyllo sheets and buttering each one.
  4. Add Nut Mixture: Spread the nut mixture evenly over the buttered phyllo dough.
  5. Layer Remaining Phyllo Dough: Layer the remaining phyllo sheets on top of the nut mixture, buttering each layer as you did before, using about 6-8 sheets.
  6. Cut the Baklava: Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the Syrup: While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, honey, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and cannabis-infused honey.
  9. Pour Syrup Over Baklava: Once the baklava is out of the oven, immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the top.
  10. Cool and Serve: Let the baklava cool completely before serving (at least 4 hours or overnight). This allows the syrup to soak into the layers.
